Summer Solstice Yoga and Walking Weekend with Geraldine O’Neill

Welcome Summer solstice the longest day of the year (21st June) with a wonderful yoga weekend in Wicklow with an experienced yoga teacher, Geraldine O’Neill. This is the perfect opportunity to take a weekend out in Summer, immerse yourself in yoga, walks in the countryside, eat good food and make new friends, and return home feeling rested and recharged. Wrapped in the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding countryside, this yoga weekend provides the perfect opportunity to move, rest and recharge.

The Yoga

Over the course of the weekend, there will be four yoga sessions.
The morning yoga practices will be creative, playful and flow-led with meditation and breathwork. The afternoon sessions will be mellow, soothing and nurturing, delving into yin yoga, restorative and yoga nidra said to be as deeply restful, as night’s sleep. The evening sessions will be deeply nourishing and blissful.

Food

You will be treated to a healthy feast of lovingly prepared delicious, home-cooked vegetarian food, which will nourish your body and your soul. The food is largely vegan and gluten-free, but there will be egg and dairy options available.

Things to do

In your free time between yoga sessions and mealtimes, you have the opportunity to enjoy the grounds and surrounding countryside as there are lots of walking opportunities. Geraldine

Geraldine began a disciplined practice of yoga in the late 90s with some of Ireland’s best-known teachers, Tony Purcell, Colm Walsh, Founder of Dublin Yoga Studios and Greg Walsh, Founder of Samadhi. At the time she was a qualified and part-time fitness instructor, working in Dublin gyms, and she needed to work on her flexibility. She also worked in a busy Public Relations business and yoga was support to a busy corporate life.

As a fitness enthusiast, which she still is, she was attracted to the dynamic practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa. Reconnecting with an old friend, Dave Curtis on his return from San Francisco, she decided to embark upon Dave’s brand new 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Training, simply, to learn more. On qualifying, she began teaching two regular classes while maintaining her day job. In 2014, following a redundancy, she founded UrbanYogi and she currently freelances as a yoga teacher at various Dublin studios; including ‘The Elbowroom’ She also runs yoga and fitness holidays in Ireland and abroad. Geraldine attends regular yoga training and in September this year will return to study with Dave, as part of his Advanced Practitioners Course. She has trained in Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra.

Her primary focus for yoga weekends is for guests to have fun, make friends, achieve their goals for yoga, big or small, and ultimately, leave happy in themselves and ready to conquer the world. Geraldine’s teaching is influenced by many styles of Hatha Yoga. She is a big fan of Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra, to support the release of held tensions in the body and rest the nervous system.
